Sophie Has A Gall Stone...

The night of our 15th wedding anniversary, I was putting Sophie to bed & she kept saying my tummy hurts.  Then I thought she was going to throw up.  We kept thinking she was getting the stomach flu, but then she started to turn a purplish-blue color!  I thought maybe it was an appendicitis.  We rushed her to Alta View Hospital, because I thought she would pass out before we made it up to Primary's.
They did an x-ray& they put in a catheter to check her urine.

She was so brave and got to pick out a few stickers...of course she chose to have a few princess stickers, Cinderella & Snow White!
The pain finally subsided & she fell asleep...

The x-ray showed a lot of stool up in the right part of her bowels, so they told us it was constipation.  The Dr. said if the pain came back to go straight up to Primary's.
Well at about 2:30am, soon after we got home the pain started up again.  So at 5:00am I had to call my parent's to come back to watch our other kids so we could take her to the hospital.
(I am SO grateful for them!!)
They thought it was interception of the bowel which is common in kids from the ages of 1-3.  Especially where the pain would come & go.  They said it's when the bowel is kind of like a telescope & it pops in & out.  If you don't fix it,  part of the bowel could die.  So they did an ultrasound to make sure it was really that.

It turns out she actually has a gall stone!!
The doctor in the emergency room had never seen that in a child so young!  Then they thought it could actually be a blood disease & took blood tests.

Sophie was so brave, but it was so sad!
All of her blood work came back good, so it is constipation too.  Now she takes Miralax everyday to help with that.
They think the gall stone might of been caused from when she had really bad jaundice when she was born, but we don't know for sure.  They won't operate until it becomes lodged in the duct or if it continues to bother her.
We are so thankful she is OK, we have been so blessed!
She recovered quickly & adores her new bear, "Cheery" that the hospital gave her when she left!
She still sleeps with it every night!
We LOVE this girl & don't know what we'd do without her!
